Stop Playing the Blame Game

blamegame

I have issues, you have issues, we all have issues. It’s how we deal with those issues I want to talk about today. Seems like lately, everyone wants to play the blame game. I keep hearing people talk about their problems and in their conversation there seems to almost always be someone else to blame. This really bothers me because it seems like no one wants to take responsibility for their own actions anymore.  That’s taking the easy way out. When there are problems, situations or unwanted circumstances in life whether it be past or present, why not look at yourself and see what you can do differently?  Instead of focusing on what someone else did or did not do, get your mind right. Perspective is everything. Focus on you. Hold yourself accountable. You have no control over the actions of other people. You can however, control you.

1424
That is how my book, Let’s Talk Life: A New Perspective was birthed. I went through many ups and downs in a very short season in my life. In that time God began to show me, me. He wouldn’t even allow me to point the finger and focus on the actions of others (even though I wanted to very badly). Instead, he used my pain and heartache to grow me up. Me focusing on the actions, or lack there of, of other people would have caused me to stay in the same space I was in.  Which means I would have never been able to grow.  There is some stuff on the inside of you that only God can get out, but you have to get to a place where you’re willing. You must be willing to acknowledge your faults, if to no one else but to God. The fact of the matter is, you will never become who you want to be if you keep blaming everyone else for who you are now. If you want to be successful. If you want to be victorious. If you want to be the wonderful, awesome person that you were created to be stop blaming everyone else for everything and take responsibility for you. Make a decision. Be the change you’d like to see in others.

Thought Check:

Because of the privilege and authority God has given me, I give each of you this warning: Don’t think you are better than you really are. Be honest in your evaluation of yourselves, measuring yourselves by the faith God has given us. (Romans 12:3 NLT)

For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. (Matthew 7:2 NIV)

I Need you to Trust me, so I can Trust you

Trust-building-blocks

When I was younger, two of the first Bible scriptures I remember learning and actually memorizing was Proverbs chapter 3 verses 5 and 6. ‘Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths.’ For some reason these scriptures just resonated in my heart as a child and they still do to this day. It reminds me that no matter what, I am to trust God at all times and most importantly stop trying to figure everything out. I have to be honest, me not trying to figure stuff out is a battle I deal with on a daily basis. I am bothered when I do not know something or when things do not go as I expect them to. Hence the reason we are to take comfort in the scriptures and lean not on our own understanding. At the end of the day, I have come to realize that some things I will never understand, but that must never affect my trust in God. Instead, I am learning to use one of the most powerful tools that God has given all of us. I am learning to pray more and more. The more you pray, the stronger you become. The less you depend on self and realize where your strength comes from, the easier it will be for you to trust Him completely.

While in my prayer/study time the other day God gave me a huge revelation that I want to share with you. He said, “I need you to trust me, so I can trust you”. That moment was life changing for me. God needs you and me to trust Him in every area of our life, stop trying to figure it out, lean not on your own understanding. In doing so, He will then be able to trust you. Are you still waiting on your financial break through? Are you still anticipating a promotion on your job? Are you still hoping for a new business? If you answered yes to any of these questions, I have one more for you. Can God trust you? Make a decision today.  Decide to fully and truly trust God with all areas of your life; finances, children, health, employment, family, school, etc…then yes He will be able to trust you because He knows that no matter what, you are not going to lean on your own understanding, instead you are going to acknowledge Him in everything so He can direct your paths.

The God that we serve is a BIG God. He’s a merciful God. He’s a gracious God. He’s a giving God. His love is perfect. He wants to see you succeed. He wants you to own your own business. He wants you to write a book. He wants you to graduate from college. He wants your body healed. Most of all, He wants you to trust Him so He can trust you.

Thought Check:

Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun. (Psalms 37: 3-6 NIV)

Speak it AND Believe it!

For the month of April, I have challenged our Facebook and Twitter followers to ‘Just Speak Life’.  In other words, every day I want people to be mindful of the words that are coming out of their mouth.  Instead of speaking death, “this will never work”, “I’m never going to get it right”, “I’m broke”, “I hate my job”, etc. change your words and speak positive.  Our words have so much power and we do not use that power nearly as much as we should.

Satan is the prince of the airways.  His job is to kill, steal and destroy.  That’s his job period and he’s going to do his job any way that he can.  Good news however, is that God already defeated satan.  Your victory is found in Christ Jesus so therefore your lifestyle should be in line as such.  Your lifestyle should be a lifestyle of faith, trusting and believing in God always.  Why is it that people find it so hard to believe the word of God, but every time the devil has something to say your ears are wide open and you are ready to receive any and everything, no matter how bad it is?  Your life should be a lifestyle of faith, even when all hell is breaking loose around you.  You walk by faith and not by sight.  Quit letting the enemy speak all that negativity into your life. Flip things up a bit and speak right back at him and put him in his place, declaring the word of the Lord.

The bible says that if we decree a thing, it shall be established.  Whether that thing is good or bad, it shall be established.  Here’s the last piece of this puzzle, which has been a huge revelation for me recently… you must also believe it.  Believe what you say.  The power is not just found in the words, you can say that you are the head and not the tail, but if you don’t believe what you are saying, those words can never fully manifest. Since you know you have the victory, through Christ Jesus, now it’s time for you to walk in that victory, talk in that victory, live in that victory, and believe that victory.
