It’s Time To Pay It Forward

From the Heart - Blessing in A Bag

When I started this blog, I would normally find myself writing about self-improvement.  I want to encourage and inspire each of you to live your life to fullest and share with you the love of God.  In doing that however, one of the main elements I hope you never forget is the importance of doing for other people.  It’s good to get yourself together, work hard, and push towards your dreams but somewhere along the way you have to be willing to put yourself to the side and think about the needs of others.  I’ve even found that in the process of my never ending doing…doing…doing, if I stop and take the time to consider the need of someone else and help meet that need my simple act of kindness helps push me that much closer to where I am trying to go.

So, in my quest to show support I came across this great organization that I immediately knew I had to share with you.  From the Heart, Blessings in a Bag was started by Whitney Sutton in Tampa, Florida.  From the Heart, Blessings in a Bag is an organization meant to bring hope, providing small necessary items needed to get through every day life to our brothers and sisters that are without homes.  When asked how what she does motivates, inspires or encourages others, Whitney stated, “I believe our bags have the potential to encourage anyone who receives them.  It shows them that there are people who care and who think that they are important.  It gives each individual who receives a bag a reason to strive for better.  In addition to all the toiletries and small goodies, included in the bag is a listing of places they can go for additional help, which can ultimately change the situation they are in. The bags also give everyone who donates time or supplies to the organization an opportunity to come together for a greater cause and satisfaction in knowing that we can make a difference.”

Sound like something you’d be interested in supporting?  The items that From the Heart, Blessings in a Bag gives away are every day items: toothbrush/toothpaste, washcloth, soap, socks, water bottle, snack crackers, granola bars, tissue, fruit cup/spoon, and blankets. These items can be purchased practically anywhere and if anyone would like to donate you can send donations to:

Whitney started this organization because she knows what it feels like to be without a home.  “I’ve been without a home before and it was the duration of about 8 months. Although the stereotype shows if they’re homeless they must have some type of problem but that was not the case. Most cases are because the responsibilities with bills, mortgage, etc. became too much to bare and there was a lack of knowledge for the resources available to help. I had someone show me available options and I hope to be able to do the same for someone else. Together, all of our small efforts can make a BIG impact! “  Proof that what you go through in life is not for you.  It’s to help make you better, but also to help others later on down the line.

Whitney, I would like to commend you on starting an organization that will touch the lives of so many people.  Your heart for people is amazing and I want you to know I support you 200%.  So amazing to see God work in your life.  My prayer is that you will continue to receive the support needed to sow seed into the lives of homeless people and show them the love of God. Your hard work, dedication, love and kindness will never go unnoticed! God bless you in all you do!
