Purpose in the Pain

PAIN HEADER.020

I’ve talked about before how tough it was for me living in Germany. Initially, the hard part was being so far away.  I had gotten comfortable where I was living, my family was not very far away and overall I was happy with life. That is of course until the news came that we were moving to Germany. At the time, I was mature enough to understand that it wasn’t my husband’s work sending us to Germany it was God. But I must be honest and say I still did not understand or like the fact that these changes were coming. I felt like my whole world was being flipped upside down and that was very hard for me to accept. When I finally got myself together and began to embrace my life in a new country, sure enough the enemy came and attacked again in a few different ways and tried to get me back to that same place I had been in when I first got there. But just as sure as he attacked, I prayed and prayed. I cried, hollered and screamed. I pleaded with God to please help me understand. I prayed for God to get me up out of that place and finally He did.

I said all that to say this, my time in Germany was tough, but I made it. I got through what feels like was the hardest 3 years of my life. Looking back, I can now say without a shadow of a doubt that there was purpose in my pain. No matter how bad I hurt and how much I did not understand at the time, I know there was a reason why I had to go through what I went through. I grew so much spiritually and God got me to a place of total dependence on Him.

Purpose

This is how I was able to find the purpose in my pain. I began to realize why I was created. I realized that my purpose in life was so much greater than anything I had ever imagined. This is also why the devil attacked me like he did. The purpose in my pain was to push me. My pain pushed me in my quest for God. My pain pushed me to think big. My pain pushed me to not just think outside the box, but actually live outside of the box. My pain pushed me to not just walk by faith but to make faith my lifestyle. My pain pushed me to be greater and bolder when telling people about God. My pain pushed me to walk in love no matter what. My pain pushed me to start my own blog and publish my first book. My pain pushed me to be the best me that I could possibly be. My pain pushed me to take off every limitation in my life. And now, one of my goals in life is to help others do the same. I want you to understand that there is so much greatness on the inside of you. If you stay comfortable and never try anything new, you will never grow and you’ll never be able to walk in that greatness. You have to get uncomfortable. It may hurt, matter fact it is going to hurt but rest assured that God is going to see you through. At the end of the day, it all boils down to this…the more uncomfortable you are, the more you have to depend on God. That’s the way it was intended to be in the first place. “Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the LORD your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.” (Deut 31:6 ESV)

The Caring Place

DDDoodles_caring_equals_community

One of the most important keys to living life to the fullest is having the ability to give back to those in need. It’s sad to say, but it seems like lately the people who have the least are the ones who are more inclined to share and give to others. People who have more want to keep getting more, sometimes even if it means taking it from someone else. Such sad times, but I am here to say there is hope. There are people and places that still have hearts for others. Today I’d like to highlight one of those places.

Junction City Caring Place (JCCP) is a non-profit organization established in 2004, located at 1013 B W 8th Street in Junction City, Kansas. The Caring Place is a faith-based central resource center in Junction City, Kansas and its surrounding areas with FREE food, clothing, counseling and basic medical care. When I learned about JCCP, I knew immediately that I needed to be connected. The fact that people only have to show their ID to receive the free services offered by the Junction City Caring Place is amazing because most other organizations that provide free services require government documentation verifying the need for assistance.

The Junction City Caring Place has been an inspirational and motivating factor because of the results and the impact it has made in the community from when they first opened the doors back in 2004 to its position in the community currently in 2014. This organization has given support to over thousands of family in Junction City and the surrounding communities. Being faith-based gives the community a different perspective of the love of God through his giving help to one another during the difficult times in life.

The Caring Place is also looking to start offering free computer classes; basic computer skills, resume building and internet skills to those who might be interested.

Write For Him

WritingForTheGloryOfGod

Writing is one of the best ways to communicate your thoughts and clearly express yourself to others. For those who love God and want to serve Him, writing can also be a way to reach out to others and draw them into the Kingdom. This week I’d like to highlight Godly Girls For God (GGFG), a ministry started by Hillary Beth Koenig. Godly Girls For God recently published “Write for Him: The Story of GGFG” a devotional book that features 25 young ladies representing 10 different countries who all came together to honor our One Great God!

When I initially started reading “Write for Him: The Story of GGFG”, I could barely stop reading. This book is a must have for young women. It’s inspiring, thought-provoking, engaging and the thing that caught my immediate attention was that it was honest and relatable. Everything these young women were thinking or experiencing at that moment in their life they wrote about it. They used this book as an opportunity to show that people who are saved and who are living for God still have issues they deal with everyday just like everyone else. As you’ll see in their writing, it’s the way they deal with these issues that sets them apart from the rest. They put their trust in God to overcome addictions, put away distorted views of God, learn how to cope with losing a parent, deal with bullies, face their fears about the future, and trade the messages of this world for the Truth.

The motto of GGFG is Glorifying God and Encouraging Others, and we act on this with every devotional, story, poem, and advice article that we write and post! Based on what I’ve read, not only in their book, but also on the website http://godlygirlsforgod.com/ –  they do just that.

Writing to your Heavenly Father is an excellent way to communicate with Him. Not everyone knows how to express themselves, but however you do it, it can still be effective as long as it’s done with a sincere heart.  Take a glimpse at what these young ladies have done in “Write for Him: The Story of GGFG”, and you’ll gain a better perspective of what it means to write for God. Our Heavenly Father knows our thoughts, He hears our prayers. Even if those prayers happen to be written down in a journal. I have been blessed by “Write for Him: The Story of GGFG”, and I know you will be too, so get your copy today and be inspired.
