When you come in contact with someone, whether it’s for the first time or not would you consider yourself to be an asset or liability? Most of the time when you hear these words you think about insurance, finance or investments. I brought this topic up because it has been on my heart lately about the impact that I can make on this world. My desire is to do the will of my Heavenly Father and in doing so make a difference in the lives of those individuals He places in my path. I want to add something to the life of every person I meet. This is what I mean by asset and liability. An asset is a useful or valuable thing, person or quality. A liability on the other hand is an obligation or debt. You ever have that one person who only calls when they want something or every time you are around them they are asking for something? I know quite a few people who fit this description and those are the people I would consider to be liabilities. They do not add any thing when you come in contact with them, instead they consistently take away.
Adding to someone can be something as simple as always smiling when you see them or having a kind encouraging word. Exemplifying this type of behavior will cause people to be happy and excited when they are in your presence. Also, think about some of the events that have taken place in life, good or bad. Instead of keeping it inside, you can share your experiences and help them. Sharing your experiences can either help prepare them for something they may go through or help them overcome what they are already going through. You just never know. The point is however, you are pouring into them what you have on the inside of you to help them. Hopefully, they will do the same for someone else, so the cycle will just keep going and going.
Think for a moment about the question I initially asked and be honest in your answer. What I am talking about is in the core of who you are. No one knows you better than you, this includes your motives. Not only that, but the truth of the matter is no one owes you anything. You might want to take, take, take all the time because you feel you have a sense of entitlement but I promise you that if it hasn’t already it will come right back around to you. As the word says, you reap what you sow. So you might think you are doing something by constantly taking from others, when really you are only enabling yourself. Bottom line, asset or liability? Which one are you? Whatever it is, be mindful that it’s your choice. #iDeclare #AssetorLiabilityYouDecide
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, please help me God to be an asset to people all over the world. I decree and declare that the only thing I will take back is what the devil stole from me. I will be a blessing and change the life of your people by simply being in their presence. I will encourage, I will support, I will edify, I will operate in a positive spirit at all times. In Jesus Name, Amen.
Scripture Reference:
Romans 12:3-5 NLT “Because of the privilege and authority God has given me, I give each of you this warning: Don’t think you are better than you really are. Be honest in your evaluation of yourselves, measuring yourselves by the faith God has given us. Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, so it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other.”
