It’s Time To Empower Your Self

It’s time for us to start empowering our self.  Stop sitting around looking for other people do stuff for you.  As the song says, get up, get out, and get something.  There was a time in my life where I wanted to take the easy way out.  If there was a shortcut or alternative way to accomplishing something that was easier for me, I took it.  Why? Because truth be told I was just trying to get what I wanted quickly and not really put in the work.  If I could let someone else do the work for me and I still get what I want, then so be it.  This may still be the work ethic of some, but by doing this you will never fully learn how to appreciate what you have when you get it.

What does it mean to empower your self?  It means putting in the work.  Work could mean studying, doing research or it could mean simply coming up with a strategy to accomplish a goal and doing it.  To put in the work however, you must have goals.  There has to be an objective that you are trying to reach.  So the first step to becoming empowered is figuring out what your objective is.  What are your goals? Long term? Short term? Immediate?  A lot of times we get so caught up in the day-to-day activities of life that we don’t really think about goals.  We should have family goals, financial goals, career goals, personal goals and the list could go on and on depending on your individual activities.  Set goals for every area of your life.  Anything that you commit your time to should have a goal.  For instance, if you work out three times a week, set a goal that you are trying to achieve while working out.

When you set goals, you empower yourself because now you are looking to no one other than yourself to accomplish these goals.  When you have a goal, it should help you stay focused.  When life happens, as it so often does, you can so easily be distracted.  When you have goals, it helps brings things back into perspective for you and helps you get your mind right.  When you get your mind right, you are then able to operate in the power that God has placed on the inside of you, which will push you to work hard to accomplish your goal, even when you don’t feel like it.

As Christians, we can apply the principle of being empowered spiritually by knowing your word.  The word of God is what gives us the focus and discipline we need to live a life that is pleasing and acceptable in the sight of God.  A life that is righteous and holy.  The word is what gives us not only power, but strength to overcome the enemy.  Having the word of God inside of you gives you confidence; it is the blueprint for life.  It will revolutionize your entire perspective on life.

Empower yourself.  Use the tools given to you and do something with them.  As children of the Most High God, defeat is not an option.  Get up, get out, and get something.  Go get what God has for you! #iDeclare #EmpowerYourSelf

Let It Rain!!!

No matter how much you may dislike the rain, you have to admit it serves a purpose.  I used to really despise rainy days because it seemed more like a huge inconvenience to me.  Trying to pull the umbrella out while carrying grocery bags, and hurrying two children in the house.  That’s just too much, ugh.  Today however, as I sat inside and watched the rain I began to reflect a little.  I may think that the rain is an inconvenience, but truth is we need the rain.  The rain is what makes the flowers so pretty and full, it’s what causes the grass to be so beautiful and green.  The rain is what fills the lakes and rivers.  Truthfully speaking, it is just so relaxing.

Now thinking from a more spiritual perspective, when we talk about the storms of life it is not usually a good thing.  It is typically describing a tough situation or season of hardship.  Just like an actual rainstorm however, when the storms of life knock on our door, we must have the strength deep down inside to see the good that can come out of it.  Very few people experience pain and heartache, or any type of distress and not come out stronger in the end.  It’s something about going through that process that can literally make or break you.  And if it breaks you, get prepared to do it all over again.  Just a little side note, could that be why you keep going through the same thing over and over and over?  It’s time you make a decision to deal with it the right way, so you can stop the repetition.

When passing through the storms of life, that’s right passing through not staying there, you have to be tough and remain strong.  Focus not so much on what you can’t do, but more on what you can do.  What is in your control?  Once you figure that out, do something about it.  You do the natural, which will allow God to the super.  You must do your part.

Instead of getting down and upset, when the tough times come think about it like this, things could always be worse and if they are bad now it only means things will get better.  The Eagle is one of the most beautiful animals in all creation.  Not just their physical appearance but their abilities that God placed inside of them is what I love.  Most other birds fly to get away from the storm and seek shelter.  An Eagle however, avoids the storm by simply rising above it.  In the storms of life, we have to take on the heart and mind of an Eagle and approach our troubles by rising above them.  Don’t take the easy road, take the high road.  It may take a little more work and determination to get you there, but in the end it will most certainly be worth it.  So the next time a storm is headed your way, take a moment for self-reflection then respond accordingly.  This is your opportunity for the spirit of God to rise up on the inside of you so you can show the world who you are and more importantly, who’s you are.   Instead of running from the storm, let the rain come and spread those royal wings and rise above it. #iDeclare #LetItRain

Prayer:

Father God, in the name of Jesus I come thanking you for the rain.  Thank you for the season of heartache and hardship in my life, for I know it only comes to make me stronger.  I decree and declare that I will be like an Eagle and soar.  I will rise above the storms of life.  I will do my part, so that you God can do yours.  In Jesus name, Amen.

Scripture:

Psalms 91:1-16 NIV “Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, I n whom I trust.” Surely he will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday. A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you. You will only observe with your eyes and see the punishment of the wicked. If you say, “The Lord is my refuge, and you make the Most High your dwelling, no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent. For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. You will tread on the lion and the cobra; you will trample the great lion and the serpent. “Because heloves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.”
